34 PuñaladasNamed after the title of a poem about a blood crime, 34 Puñaladas (34 Stabs…) was born in the toughest side of life and tango. Formed in 1998, most of their musical journey has been dedicated to explore the shadows of the Argentinean song of the 20s and 30s. With lyrics in Lunfardo, the slang of Buenos Aires’ underworld, the repertoire of their first records – “Tangos Carcelarios” (2002 and 2004), “Slang” (2005) and “Argot” (2006) – is filled with stories of drugs, prostitution, robbery, unfulfilled love and violence. It’s the “interpretative” phase of the group, interrupted in 2006 when, while keeping under the shadows of the urban night, they start to work their own melodies and lyrics. That work culminates in 2009 with the release of “Bombay Bs.As.”, hailed by the Argentinean press as the most original tango record of recent years and, as La Nación called it, “the start of a new era” for the genre. In the voice of a Gardelian singer – Alejandro Guyot – and the strings of four virtuoso guitarists – Augusto Macri, Edgardo González, Juan Lorenzo and Lucas Ferrara – the “porteño” culture arrives at Sines’ port.
