Home to some of the best folk music produced in Europe, Galicia has been consistently present in FMM Sines’ line-up. In 2010, that happens again, by one of the most beautiful voices of Galician new generation. Guadi Galego starts her career studying music at La Coruña’s Conservatory and traditional music in several groups of the region. In 1997 she enters Berrogüetto, where she stays as lead singer and piper for 10 years. The band receives a handful of international awards, including a nomination for the Latin Grammys in 2002. After spending some time in smaller formations (Espido and Nordestin@s, within which she still occasionally performs), she releases her first solo album, “Benzón”, in 1999, winning the Folk Record of the Year category in Opinión da Música Awards. A song extracted from the record, “Madama”, was also nominated for the award of best Galician song of the year in 14th Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias de la Musica Awards, Spain’s most prestigious. In July, Guadi Galego comes to Sines to enchant everyone with the maritime freshness of her voice.
